SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR I (160-40-2204) Open until filled. FT with New River Behavioral HealthCare, work base Mt Airy. Duties include: Outpatient SA counselor providing SA assessments, individual, group, and family counseling, educational program work with consumers, obtaining service authorization and completing service record documentation, community support services for WF/CPS/SA initiative and SAIOP, must be a QSAP & CSAC, LCAS or Board registered. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field with SA course work and a practice or internship in a SA program; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience as a SA counselor trainee, or graduation from high school or equivalent and three years experience in SA field, two of which must have been at the level of SA Worker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Usual Schedule: M-F, 8-5, first responder coverage rotation required. Typical-hiring range: $30,684 - $34,908.
