Community Care for the Changing TImes

Human Resources Department

The Human Resources Department performs a multi-faceted role in the organizational structure of New River Behavioral HealthCare.  Not only is Human Resources essential in the macro-management of the agency, but is involved in many of the day-to-day, one-on-one interactions that take place between management and staff.

The Human Resources Department works to create standardization and to provide information and guidance in legal issues, administrative policies and procedures, personnel issues, recruitment/hiring practices, benefits, and health and safety.  Human Resources (HR) promotes compliance with state and federal laws concerning personnel issues and works with management on issues of reduction-in-force and salaries.  HR conducts investigations when complaints or grievances are submitted by or about employees.

Functioning as an advocate for the employees, Human Resources works toward fairness and equity in salaries and employee benefits and strives to play a key role in creating a work environment that contributes toward employee satisfaction and retention.  HR serves as a channel to encourage effective communication between management and employees and provides support to all employees regarding workplace conditions and employee rights.

Human Resources is also responsible for facilitating quality improvement practices by implementing background checks, new employee orientation/training and employee credentialing.  Human Resources oversees Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, coordinates the Workers’ Compensation Program and monitors compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action.
